My current teaching position is at Robbinsville High School in Graham County, NC. We are the only high school in the county with a student body of approximately 350 students. Our campus is shared with the middle school, while elementary, primary and alternative schools are housed on separate campuses across town.
I teach Visual Art, grades 9-12. As we are a very small school, and I am the only art teacher, course offerings are quite limited; currently they include Art I, a combined course for Art II-IV, Appalachian Arts & Culture--an arts elective curriculum I designed several years ago. The Appalachian Arts & Crafts Curriculum became one of the components of my National Board of Professional Teaching Standards renewal profile. (resume)
I am currently in the process of creating a classroom website, and plan to dedicate time next school year to creating a gallery for student work (I had a student gallery a couple of years ago that was housed on the school server, but when the server crashed it disappeared). Most of the documentation for my Appalachian Arts & Culture Class is found under the "school" tag within this site's Blog.
